Have you ever seen
One perfect solitary rose?
One more beautiful than the others?
One so brilliant that it glows?

You can leave it on it's branch
Or cut it and take it in.
But a rose only lasts a little while
'Til it wilts and dies from within.

Once upon a time long ago
I found a perfect rose so sweet
I cared for it so lovingly
Only to lose it in summer's heat.

I never will forget
The beauty it possessed
And how my heart did swell
As I held it to my breast.

If I never hold another
I'll know forever that I was blessed.
Once I had a perfect solitary beauty
That stood out from all the rest.
